TMLT offers KN95 masks to policyholders fighting COVID-19

TMLT is offering KN95 respirator masks to policyholders on the front lines of the COVID-19 emergency in Texas. While supplies last, the masks are being provided at no cost to policyholder physicians and their practices.
Policyholders should check their email for details on how to request a supply of KN95 masks. Supplies are limited and expected to go quickly.
Robert Donohoe, TMLT president and CEO, acquired the masks from a manufacturer in China. KN95 masks from China were recently approved for use in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
“This PPE shortage is acute, and it’s hurting physicians from Fort Davis to Beaumont. That’s why I decided to act,” said Donohoe in his message to policyholders. “Serving the physician community is our mission. And now, as you are all on the front lines fighting COVID-19, this mission is more important than ever.”
In addition to offering KN95 masks, TMLT has taken the following steps to assist policyholders during the COVID-19 crisis.
- TMLT policyholders will receive an additional 10 percent premium dividend credited to their accounts. The dividend will save policyholders approximately $13 million in 2020 premium costs.
- TMLT now offers insurance coverage at no cost to retired Texas physicians who resume practicing medicine to volunteer during the COVID-19 public health emergency.
- TMLT is offering part-time and leave of absence coverage to physicians who are practicing less due to COVID-19. This change in insurance status can help reduce premium costs.
- TMLT will not cancel any policy for non-payment due to the challenges of the COVID-19 emergency. Policyholders who expect their premium payment will be delayed, should contact TMLT customer service as soon as possible.
- TMLT has extended its business hours and staff are now available to take calls from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 800-580-8658. Those calling after 8 p.m. should follow the prompts to report a claim, ask as risk management question, or ask a question about your account.
