Clear and consistent documentation can prevent confusion and potentially avoid adverse outcomes. In this course, learn how good documentation practices can make it easier to defend a physician’s actions in the event of a claim.

  • discuss the importance of documentation for timely treatment and diagnosis;
  • illustrate how strong communication can help documentation and patient care;
  • summarize the physician's role and responsibility for acquiring informed consent from patients; and
  • describe the process and reasoning for documenting and tracking opioid prescriptions.
