Elliott Moss, a third-year student at The University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio, has been awarded the 2018 TMLT Scholarship.
“I am grateful for TMLT, and for this gracious gift that was awarded to me and my family. As I enter my third year of medical school, I am excited to care for my patients with the knowledge that my long-term situation is much better off,” said Mr. Moss. “It is a privilege to care for the health of others, and I will do my best to help every person I encounter.”
Mr. Moss earned his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology at Brigham Young University.
The TMLT Scholarship was established to recognize Texas medical students who are interested in finding creative and effective ways to enhance patient safety. TMLT awards one $10,000 scholarship in October. Scholarship recipients are chosen based on the student's financial need and a written essay.
For the essay portion, applicants were asked to write risk management considerations for a closed claim study provided by TMLT. Mr. Moss’ winning essay will be included in the 2018 fourth quarter edition of TMLT's newsletter, the Reporter.
The TMLT Underwriting and Business Development Committee (BDC) evaluated the applications and chose the recipient. The BDC is made up of TMLT physician policyholders and board members.
