Texas physicians will be required to use a new system to submit death certificates beginning January 1, 2019. The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) will introduce a new vital statistics registry system called TxEver on January 1.
TxEver — which replaces the current Texas Electronic Register (TER) —will support all vital events operations, including reporting, registration, and amendments of births and deaths, DSHS said. The new system is reported to be more accurate and easier to use.
In Texas, physicians are required to fill out an electronic death certificate within five days of receiving it or face penalties from the Texas Medical Board.
