New vital statistics registry now live

January 7, 2019

TxEver — Texas’ new vital statistics registry system — is operating smoothly and Texas physicians should now be using it to submit birth and death certificates.

On January 1, the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) rolled out TxEver to replace the previous registry system. The new system supports all vital events operations, including reporting, registration, and amendments of births and deaths, and is reported to be more accurate and easier to use.

In Texas, physicians are required to fill out an electronic death certificate within five days of receiving it or face penalties from the Texas Medical Board.
